According to Pantone, Very Peri is “a dynamic periwinkle blue hue with a vivifying violet-red undertone.” “Peri” is a shortened version of “Periwinkle,” which is a delicate but charming bluish flower. This is where the peri(winkle) color comes from. When Pantone announced its Color of the Year for 2022, instead of choosing from its vast collection of colors, it custom-made a new color. Just don’t call it purple!! Very Peri is very much periwinkle through and through. Pantone describes Veri Peri as an “enthusiastic blue hue whose whimsicality lends itself to unpredictable color harmonies and spontaneous color statements.”

Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, further states that “Very Peri displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expression.” Who knew a color could do so much? Very Peri is very cool, indeed!

A pop of Very Peri color against white or a dark blue makes for a great accent in wedding apparel. Think of a Very Peri-colored tie, handkerchief, or cumberbund for males and Very Peri bridesmaids’ dresses contrasting with the white of the bride’s dress. This is a color perfectly suited for a mother-of-the-bride dress as well.
